I pre-ordered this book direct from the publisher in June of 2010. Due to circumstances beyond the author's control the book wasn't released until November 2011. I got my copy towards the end of February thanks to it being sent surface mail. Really? Who does that in the 21st century? Once I began reading it, I couldn't put it down. I've read a number of books about the history of the character and this book ranks up there with the best of them! While the chapters covering the Roger Moore and Ian Ogilvy periods are very good, chock full of behind the scenes details and quotes from cast and crew, it's the chapters that cover the period before Roger's series and after Ian's series that really shine. There was alot I didn't know from those periods, and he covers the Simon Dutton series in more detail than previous books. I was surprised that there weren't any photos but the rich text makes up for it. As I write this review there seems to be only one used copy available on AmazonUS for not quite $50. If you want this book, order it either from AmazonUK(actually cheaper, even with shipping) or direct from the publisher, specifying it be sent air mail. No one should have to wait a month to read this book in the 21st century. Watch for the sign of The Saint...he will be back!Product details
